How do Waiheke Wine Tours compare with other wine tours?
Waiheke wines are award wining, quality wines. They are not the sort of wines produced in bulk by large vineyards elsewhere in New Zealand.
You also get to enjoy fantastic views of Auckland on the journey from Auckland to Waiheke Island, and around Waiheke Island itself.
Does the tour include ferry tickets to and from Waiheke Island?
Not unless expressly stated - our tours meet the Explore ferries. Be sure to check your tour times to make sure you are there to meet the tour on time.
Your tour has three times - the ferry time (about an hour before the advertised tour time), the time the ferry gets to Waiheke, and the time the tour departs from Oneroa on Waiheke (the time advertised on this site).
Does the tour include lunch?
Our tours do not include lunch.
The Half Day Wine Tour has been designed so that you can have lunch before or after your tour in Oneroa the main village. If you were to do this, you would need to catch different ferries from the times detailed on our website. We encourage you to make your own arrangements to enjoy the fabulous eateries on Waiheke.
Below is a representative list of eateries in Oneroa, the main village:
Do you meet the ferry from Half Moon Bay?
The vast majority of our passengers come from Downtown Auckland.
For practical reasons we are unable to also be at Kennedy Point which is the Waiheke terminal for Sealink ferries. They do at times run a shuttle service from Kennedy Point to Oneroa at times. You would need to contact Sealink for details. We may be able to drop passengers to Kennedy Point after the tour but we cannot give any guarantees because of operational considerations but we are always happy to help if we can. Please discuss with tour driver your requirements at the time you join the tour.
What do we get on the tour?
Included in the cost is:
- Greeting at Matiatia on arrival
- transport to all venues,
- cost of tastings
- return to Matiatia ferry terminal in time for ferry back to Downtown Auckland.
What is your cancellation policy?
We sell many bookings that may have their own particular conditions.
However, any booking is forfeited if cancelled within 48 hours of the start time of any booked tour. No shows are treated as forfeited.
For further details see our Terms and Conditions.
Can bookings be changed?
We are happy to allow bookings to be changed up to 24 hours before the start time of any booked tour.
A link to your individual booking can be found on the confirmation email sent to you when you booked.
Can children come on your tours?
All people who come on our tours must be 18 years.
Our tours are for the enjoyment of adults. If you look under 25 years of age, please don’t be offended if you are asked for ID.
Are animals allowed on tours?
No. The exception is approved guide dogs.
Which vineyards or venues will we visit?
Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee any particular vineyard or venue on any particular day.
Many of the vineyards are small businesses and are not always open. Some can be closed on particular days because of private functions or weddings.
We try to give our customers the best fun day on Waiheke Island we can, so please be assured that with our years of experience, we will take you to the best venues available on you special day with us.
Do tours run regardless of the weather?
We run tours year round regardless of the weather. The last tour we cancelled because of weather was in January 2011.
Many of our customers come from all over the world and will only ever be likely to spend a single day on Waiheke. They are entitled to know that we are very reluctant to cancel any booked tour. Some of the best and most fun groups have been on one of our rare horrible days.
The ferries from Auckland operate in all weathers and are rarely cancelled. They would be arguably the most reliable public transport in New Zealand.
